Mathematics for Standard IX

Chapter no. 1 Number System (Exercise 1.3)
Today  we are going to learn Types of decimal expansion of Real numbers and how  to Express rational number (recurring number) in p/q form from chapter 1 of your Mathematics textbook.
1) Types of decimal expansion of Real numbers:-
a) Terminating decimal- A terminating decimal is usually defined as a decimal number that contains a finite number of digits after the decimal point .e.g 0.5, 2.456, 123.456 etc.
b) Non-terminating decimal- Non-terminating decimal are those which keep on continuing after decimal point.
Shortly, If remainder zero means Terminating and the remainder not zero means Non-terminating.
Now observe the following examples

Now the examples , how to express  rational number (recurring number) in p/q form

The video of  decimal expansion , examples of how Express rational number in p/q form are available in following link
Solve Q.1 ,Q.2 & Q.3 of exercise 1.3
Assignment (Other examples for practice)

Note:- Its not compulsory to reduced p/q form
